Rock Art & Nature Hikes
Embark on a full-day guided hike with a qualified guide, who brings with extensive naturalist knowledge and specialist training in Bushman rock art of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg region.
This immersive experience takes you up the Khanti in the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, following a 7 km trail with a 300m elevation gain. The hike is moderate to steep and lasts approximately six hours, including a stop for lunch (not included) and time to explore the site.
As you ascend, expect to encounter breathtaking views, clear mountain streams, open grasslands, and the chance to spot wildlife such as Eland, Mountain Reedbuck, and Chacma Baboons.
The destination is the remarkable “Marching Men” Bushman rock art panel – featuring a series of polychrome Eland and detailed human figures. The concentration of male forms has inspired various interpretations, with modern research pointing toward spiritual and trance-related symbolism deeply rooted in Bushman cosmology.
If, the long hike is too much, a 3 hour hike to “Bottoms Up” shelter is an option for a morning’s ambling.
