Relaxed Birding Tour – Sani Pass

A gentler alternative to the Endemic Birding Tour, the Relaxed Birding Tour follows the same scenic route up the iconic Sani Pass, offering a more easy going pace while still focusing on your personal birding wishlist.

As we ascend the World Heritage-listed Sani Pass, you’ll travel through a series of diverse habitats — from grasslands and Protea slopes to alpine meadows — gaining insight not only into the region’s rich birdlife, but also its fascinating history and wild, rugged beauty.

We’ll cross into Lesotho, explore the highland plateau, and enjoy a quiet moment to take in the vast, untamed landscapes before returning to Himeville.

A light lunch is included, and we provide still water. Please bring any other refreshments you prefer.

What to bring:

Valid passport (required for Lesotho border crossing), Binoculars (essential for birding),  Comfortable outdoor clothing (dress in layers for changing weather), Warm jacket or windbreaker (it can be cold and windy at altitude),  hat and sunscreen, snacks or extra drinks.
